Shifting Environs

We know that the climate is changing. We can see the evidence for ourselves with the increase in droughts and raging wildfires, disastrous tsunamis and floods as ocean levels rise, and the hottest temperatures in recorded history. We know that the changes we see are the result of human activities. We know that with every action comes a reaction and as we chase perpetual economic growth, our behaviours have had devastating repercussions. Shifting Environs is an opportunity for artists to address these concerns and the most urgent problem humanity faces today. This exhibition will showcase artists and artworks that engage with these changing paradigms.

Call for Submissions:

Arts Etobicoke is hosting our artist members in a juried art exhibition, Shifting Environs in the Storefront Gallery at Arts Etobicoke! The exhibition will run from March 23 to April 30, 2020.
We are now accepting submissions from artists who work in any medium to be a part of this exhibition. All participants must be an Arts Etobicoke member prior to submitting their application. To find out more about member benefits and to become a member, visit our Member page. A jury consisting of 3 members which will include an artist, curator, and arts professional will be making selections based on artistic merit, technical skill, and relevance to the theme. This year’s jurors are Elyses Tsotsos, David Chinyama, and Darlene Kulig.

This year, Arts Etobicoke is introducing an exciting interactive digital exhibition, in addition to the physical show at the Storefront Gallery. In the interest of inclusivity, every submission will be included as part of an online exhibition that invites viewers to curate their own show. Audiences will have the opportunity to see every submission online and select among the artworks to create a digital exhibition and tell a story.

Submission Procedure:

Only finished and completed works of art will be accepted, please do not submit unfinished works. Arts Etobicoke will accept submissions through our website only. The artworks submitted must not exceed 24″ x 24″ in size. Please fill in the appropriate details in the form. Images must be in JPEG format. Please email akshata@artsetobicoke.com for any questions.
