Arts Etobicoke presents Augmented Reality in the Village of Islington! Bringing together local artists and the magic of augmented reality technology, this exciting project adds a new digital layer to select murals in the Village. The activations are designed to reflect the people who live and work in The Village and to share stories from the community with a focus on immigration and Indigenous voices. Be on the lookout for “Art is Here” stickers throughout The Village of Islington to find out how you can experience all of the Augmented Reality activations.
Arts Etobicoke has partnered with local businesses to offer FREE treats when you explore the Village and interact with the murals. On Saturday, July 24th the first 75 people to visit Mai Bistro with a screenshot of themselves experiencing one of the AR activations will receive their choice of bite-sized treat including Vegetable Spring Rolls, Grilled Steak with Chimichurri sauce, Crispy Fried Taco, or Tres Leche Cake! All food is made to order and is subject to availability while quantities last. Come explore the Village of Islington, experience the art and enjoy its delicious cuisine.
Our Storefront Gallery will also be open this Saturday, from 12:00 – 5:00 pm with staff on site to answer any questions, or loan you a device to use to experience the murals. Please stop by and say hello. We have missed you!
