This workshop is led by Luke Garwood, one of the 4 lead artists on the Augmented Reality in the Village of Islington Project, along with Arthur Yeung of Albedo Informatics, a consultant on the project.
Luke will present and demonstrate on Augmented Reality (AR) in the context of Art, Archive, and Activism. He will provide a brief intro to AR, show examples of its use in these areas, and lead a quick AR setup in Unity. Arthur will introduce the L.A.R.G.E. app and present a step by step process to navigate that and integrate some examples from the work done in the past.
This is a 3 hour workshop which will take you through an overview of the project, opportunities to be involved and work with the lead artist and Albedo Informatics to develop an AR component. No prior experience of working with AR is required however, it is helpful to have some basic understanding of this technology.
All our community workshops are free, however this one is intended for the artists in the community who have some connection to the Village of Islington neighbourhood or Etobicoke. This project is designed to more accurately represent the people who live and work in this community so we want to make sure that registration is targeted to community members.
