In partnership with the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation, we were pleased to present Studio Health and Safety: Creating a Healthy Practice with facilitators Ted Rickard and Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua.
Designed for visual artists of all disciplines, this free workshop reviewed holistic approaches to self-care strategies and steps to creating safe and healthy workspaces. Participants had the opportunity to discuss the specific challenges of their creative environments.
Ted Rickard MLS, MEd, CRSP, was the Manager of Health & Safety at Ontario College of Art & Design from1988-2007. While at OCAD Ted’s educational mandate reached all aspects of health and safety within the College including teaching students, faculty and staff. A leading expert in this field, Ted has advised on health and safety issues for many individuals, institutions and organizations including Art Gallery of Ontario’s Conservation Department, Art Hazards Resource Association and Toronto School of Art.
Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua HBSc, ND, PhD (cand.), is a licensed naturopathic doctor and the Clinic Director of the Liberty Clinic in downtown Toronto. He is the first naturopathic doctor to practice at the Toronto Western Hospital as well as the Artists’ Health Centre. An avid public speaker, Dr.JJ has given presentations to pharmacists, medical professionals, government, academics, artists and musicians, students, teachers and the general public.
The Artists’ Health Centre Foundation (AHCF) is committed to promoting the well being of the professional performing and creative artists. They provide leadership and support for programs and services at the Al and Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre, education, advocacy, outreach, prevention services and resources to this community of artists as well as students and staff in professional post secondary arts training programs. As part of its mandate to provide these resources to the artists’ community, the AHCF presents many other seminars and workshops like this one throughout the year.
