For the first time, we offered dance instruction for children 8-12 as a part of the Saturday Storefront Art Class series with Let's Dance! Creative Movement Classes with dancer/teacher Eroca Nicols. Generously supported by the Johansen-Larsen Foundation.
This 6 week Saturday class used dance and yoga techniques with physical and image based exercises to discover ways to move and to communicate and celebrate our bodies.
Eroca Nicols earned her honors BFA in film/video/performance and Sculpture from California College of the Arts.She was a scholarship recipient of Ballet Creole's Professional Training Program in Toronto and trained in the professional program at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre.Eroca founded her company, Lady Janitor, in 2008. She is currently a choreographer, dancer, dance filmmaker, and producer.She was named winner of Dance Ontario's 2010 Innovation Award for her outstanding and original work.With her teaching she aims to create a fun, inclusive, accessible, kid-centered environment where students explore expressing themselves through creative movement.
