QMAP 2013 Exhibit

May 1 – Jul 14, 2013
Reception: May 16, 2013

QMAP youth participants, staff/partners and volunteers gathered at Arts Etobicoke on May 16 to celebrate this inaugural showcase event.

Photographs created through the QMAP program were displayed along with papier mache masks, and origami dolls. For the participating youth, this was an important opportunity to share their expressions of self in a public gallery.

QMAP  is a youth-led pilot project initially created by REX Pride, an LGBTQ+ youth group in Rexdale, with supporting partners Leave Out Violence, MicroSkills ProTech Media Centre and Arts Etobicoke. Generously supported by the Rotary Club of Etobicoke.

This new and innovative project provides a safe space in the community where youth who identify as LGBTTIQQ2SPA and allies, had the opportunity to learn quality artistic skills in multi-mediums and use those skills to create a message for social change
in the larger community.
